We Didn't Start the Series: Star Trek The Next Generation

If you were a Star Trek fan growing up and are now in your mid to late 20s you probably recall the late 80s and 90s growing up as a great time to be a Trekker or Trekkie. When next gen went to syndication starting in 1995, many local stations wanted a piece of the Enterprise action. They all started making entertaining ads to get local viewers to tune in to them. This one was done for FOX 23 in Oklahoma.

This ad was done in Miami and the creator of the ad has a blog post about it. The idea was that people were so excited about TNG, that everyone was shaving their heads like Captain Picard.
More Star Trek The Next Generation ads, these three come from the same station, where they were promoting different themed weeks. These were seen on Fox channel 6.

Nothing like taking a look at the past. As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Star Trek the Next Generation, let us remember that even today you can still find it on television. Syfy network does occasional viewings throughout the week. Also be looking for the new Blueray season 1 in stores starting later this year.
