Election Entertainment: The Lone Gunmen

Back for another EE post. The election is under a month away and we've had one debate that has already riled the nerves of supporters and detractors of the various candidates. This post doesn't deal with an entertaining story about a presidential campaign, but a funny story about a campaign for the U.S. Senate.

I have posted before about The Lone Gunmen television series in a previous Go Screen Yourself post. I won't recap the entire series for you again. In the episode: Three Men and a Smoking Diaper, the Gunmen find themselves mixed up in a scandalous love affair involving a U.S. Senator running for re-election in the last critical weeks of the campaign.

Complimenting the Gunmen cast in episode is character actor Christopher Rich. He plays Senator Jefferson who is portrayed a little like President Clinton in his speaking style and mannerisms. Rich currently plays the father in the series Melissa and Joey. He has had other numerous guest or reoccurring parts on a variety of television series (Murphy Brown, ER, Babylon 5, Reba, Baywatch, Empty Nest, The Nanny).

The basic plot of the episode is the Gunmen want to expose Senator Jefferson for having an affair and producing a child with his mistress. The mistress ends up dead and the Gunmen want to further expose the Senator. By the end of the episode though, you end up liking Senator Jefferson! Politics can make for great entertainment, especially when Frohike puts on fake nipples. After your volunteer shift at the local campaign office, come and unwind with The Lone Gunmen and some election entertainment.
